Local MP and Roads Minister Jesse Norman has greatly welcomed the news that Herefordshire will receive £5 million of Government money to improve local roads.
Herefordshire Council have successfully bid for the funding from the Department for Transport’s Local Highways Maintenance Challenge Fund.
Commenting, Jesse said “I am absolutely delighted that my Department has been able to fund this project. It was a great bid, and a fantastic project that local drivers will hugely benefit from.
“Major road resurfacing can now start in the county. The funds secured will cover much-needed work on the A465, A438 and A4103.
“This is part of a much larger £75 million Challenge Fund. The projects it finds will include flood resilience measures, repairs to rural roads and bridges, and viaduct repairs.
“I congratulate all 19 local highway authorities that, like Herefordshire Council, have been successful in their bids.”
