South Herefordshire MP Jesse Norman has welcomed news of Wye Valley NHS Trust’s ongoing commitment to Ross Community Hospital.
Jesse wrote to the Richard Beeken, Chief Executive of the Trust to ask what the Trust's plans were for providing medical cover at the hospital after Pendeen Surgery gave notice to end their longstanding relationship with the hospital. Replying to Jesse’s letter, Mr Beeken stated that the Trust had appointed a doctor to work at Ross Community Hospital on a full time basis, starting on 1 September. The doctor will work in partnership with doctors from Alton Street Practice, who will continue to provide cover, and the Consultant Geriatrician team based at Hereford County Hospital.
Commenting on Mr Beeken’s letter, Jesse said: “I very much understand Pendeen Surgery’s decision to withdraw from their contract at Ross Community Hospital, and I know it was not a decision that was taken lightly. I commend the orderly way in which all those involved have managed this transition. It is very positive news that the result will be more medical cover for Ross Hospital.”
