Local MP and long time River Wye campaigner Jesse Norman has given a qualified welcome to news today of the first joined-up action by governments on the river.

The UK and Welsh governments have announced a joint new £1M fund for research into the causes of pollution in the Wye.
Commenting, Jesse said:
“It’s good news that the UK and Welsh governments are finally getting together to work on cleaning up the River Wye, as I have campaigned for since 2020.
“But the £1M they have announced won't go far. And it's a far cry from the £35M allocated by the last government.
“So this is just the first step. We will need to see a genuine, effective and fully funded plan of action under way before anyone can start to feel that this vital local and national issue is being properly addressed.”
